Anything for a Friend, Giving Tree

Donovan Platt

 

Donovan Platt is a well-loved community member and father of 6 children, ranging in age from 1st grade to college. Donovan, his wife Olya, and their children have been a special part of Quest Academy for many years.

One Thursday night Donovan Platt was reffing his son’s soccer game when he kept missing things which was unusual for him. The next day he was feeling extra tired, and that night his left arm was feeling weak. On Saturday morning at 4:00 am it got so bad that he couldn’t control it at all. They thought it was possibly a micro stroke, so they took him to the ER. It was then that Donovan was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. They did emergency surgery to remove the tumor. He had another MRI done almost exactly a year before that (for something else) and there was nothing on it, so it happened very fast and in the last few months most likely. As of today, he had to have yet another emergency surgery to remove 3 more tumors that have grown to the size of the first large one within a month.

The family is trying to do all they can in the meantime in terms of research, treatments etc. He is declining and the family is praying for peace, healing and strength.

We, as a faculty and staff at Quest Academy, would love to participate in giving the Platt family some hope and love this Christmas with a giving tree.  Please join us in doing ANYTHING FOR A FRIEND.
