Katie Thompson

In October of 2011, Katie was diagnosed with a very rare sarcoma following the birth of her sixth child.  Between October and December of that year Katie endured twenty-five rounds in radiation culminating in surgery to remove the tumor in January of 2012.  While it appeared that the surgery was successful, six months later her scan showed tumors in her lungs, automatically categorizing her as Stage IV.  Since that time Katie has courageously undergone a litany of chemotherapy options, which have resulted in a battle with Leukemia.

 

Katie's hope to continue her life and raise her children rests on radiation treatment for her existing tumors and a bone marrow transplant to cure the leukemia.  Though her prognosis is grim, Katie continues to do everything in her power to fight for health and happiness.  She IS, and ALWAYS has been very strong and focused.

 

In keeping with her strength and focus, we are coming together to do a special Anything for a Friend event for Katie and her family.  Though we do not have the power to change the ultimate outcome, we will change what we can and bring light into a dark situation.  COME and DO anything for a friend!

 

I love this family! They are ALL warriors of strength and light. This life can be hard and when it gets hard, there tends to be two kinds of people...those who fold and those who grow; and in their process of growth they nourish everyone around them! Thank you Katie and the entire Thompson family for teaching all of us what to do with the hard! I can't wait for them to see all of you at their special event on Saturday. Go Team Katie!
